Ground protection mats (also known as bog mats or track mats) are heavy-duty mats designed to protect the ground, equipment, and personnel while improving access over soft or unstable terrain.
They work by distributing the weight of heavy machinery over a wider surface area. Instead of tires or tracks digging into soil, sand, or grass, the mat absorbs the pressure and spreads it evenly, creating a stable and secure path for movement.
Ground protection mats are installed by laying them flat on properly prepared ground. Each mat comes standard with four built-in handles—two on each long side—making them easy to lift, carry, and position manually. Once placed, the mats are interlocked using connecting pins or links inserted through pre-drilled holes, forming a stable temporary roadway or working platform that prevents shifting during use.
1) Match mat type to equipment and site conditions After the calculation, choose the right mat type: Light-duty mats: people, carts, light vehicles Heavy-duty mats (60–80 tons rating): excavators, trucks, cranes Soft soil or mud: stiffer mats to prevent sinking Grass or landscaping: mats that spread load to reduce damage Sand or uneven ground: anti-slip surfaces improve stability Thickness helps, but it’s not everything. Most construction sites use 18–20 mm mats. Material quality and design matter just as much.
2) HDPE is popular for a reason HDPE ground protection mats are widely used because they: Are strong but flexible Do not crack easily Work in hot and cold weather Handle repeated installation and removal well.
3) Don’t trust “tons rating” alone Claims like “80-ton” or “95-ton capacity” can be misleading. In reality: Ground protection mats are load spreaders, not magic bridges. The best mat is not the thickest or cheapest one — it’s the one that fits your equipment, your ground, and your job duration.
Available patterns include large leaf pattern, small leaf pattern, four-claw pattern, and block-style pattern. Other patterns can be customized upon request.
For standard sizes such as 4×8 ft, 3×8 ft, and 2×8 ft, the minimum order quantity is 10 pieces.
